Carmelite Missionaries of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus

Perpetual vows/ Permanent formation

By taking the Perpetual Vows, the sister becomes a permanent member of the congregation. She lives in permanent formation with the desire, to mirror Jesus Christ until he grows and forms in her.

Temporary vows

The temporary vows are divided into three stages: minor, intermediate and major. In these stages, the sister is responsible for her continued human, spiritual, doctrinal, pastoral and academic formation to respond effectively and joyfully to the demands of today's world.

A year before the perpetual vows are received, the sister summarizes what she has lived, enlightened by the word of God so that she can make the final choice of following Jesus Christ and accepting the little way of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus that springs from the merciful love of God and live with love in service to the Church.

The novitiate stage is a two-year period and an auspicious time for the novice to dedicate herself to Christ in the intimacy of prayer and live continuously in the presence of God; integrating her process of human formation to reach the maturity suitable for a religious life.

In this stage the sister makes the values of the congregation her own, becomes more aware of her baptismal commitments as part of the Church, increases her love for the risen Lord, Jesus Christ and commits her life to continue His work of salvation.

Is a stage where the aspirant experiences the need for prayer and the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation, as means to consolidate her Christian life and to clarify her vocation.
